Łódź is the city of festivals. A few dozen of regular cultural events take place in Łódź every year. The Festival of Dialogue of Four Cultures is one of them. Its idea comes back to the memory of the dialogue taking place in Łódź for many successive years, the dialogue of four cultures that created Łódź: Polish, German, Jewish and Russian. Construction of temples, theatres, cinemas, public buildings was a joint effort of the citizens of Łódź. The festival presents comprehensive and versatile achievements in the field of culture, music, film, and theatre. The Explorers Festival, taking place in November, is worth recommendation to the lovers of extreme sports, mountains and travel. The first Festival of Film Music, attracting many followers, took place in 1997. Its star was Michał Lorenc, the composer famous all over the world.
One of the fastest developing festivals of photography is Fotofestiwal which this year took place for the 6th time in Łódź. The organizers of the Fotofestiwal also called for the Union of 30 European Festivals of Photography, aiming at promotion of the most important events in photography. The Art Biennale hosts unique works created especially for the occasion, with all types of artistic activities accepted. It is also worth to see the largest collection of tapestries in Europe, displayed in the Central Museum of Textiles, organizer of the International Tapestry Triennale. The International Festival of the Art. of Cinematography Camerimage, known all over the world, is considered the milestone in the art of cinematography, every year gathering in Łódź many outstanding creators of the world and Polish film industries.
The “Lodz of Festivals” is a shared promotional project initiated by the organizers of the biggest cultural events in Lodz. The main idea of the project concerns cooperation in terms of promotion.
